چکیده
It has been acknowledged that ultrasonic impact treatment (UIT) occupies a firm position among methods for improving the reliability of welded joints, particularly their fatigue strengths. Developed in Russia in the early 1970s, this process has aroused considerable interest among experts and researchers in the area of fatigue and fabrication of welded structures. This interest reflects the benefits of the treatment; the small dimensions, high power and ease-of-use of the tools; good control of the treatment parameters; consistency; economic feasibility and safety; the wide range of practical applications. This paper presents technical aspects of the process, including an experimental and theoretical description of the physics and the means of controlling the ultrasonic impact parameters. In addition, the efficiency of ultrasonic as compared to single impacts, such as obtained with peening processes, is assessed. Finally, it describes the mechanism of the effect on materials, feedback mode, in-process control of the treatment quality, tools and power supplies designed on the basis of the results of investigations of UIT. Dosimetric Study of Tissue Heterogeneity Correction for Breast Conformal Radiotherapy
Introduction: Heterogeneity correction is an important parameter in dose calculation for cancer patients where it may be cause inaccuracy in dose calculation as a result of different densities of patients. This study studied the impact of dose calculation of breast cancer patients with and without heterogeneity correction. Material and Methods: Twenty breast cancer patients were treated with Th...

I review the progress made on the physics of relativistic jets from black hole systems in the context of the analogy between AGN and microquasars that was proposed one decade ago. If the emerging empirical correlations between the observational properties of stellar and supermassive black holes will become more robust, we will use them to determine the mass and spin of black holes, independentl...
متن کاملIntramembrane Cavitation as a Predictive Bio-Piezoelectric Mechanism for Ultrasonic Brain Stimulation
Low-intensity ultrasonic waves can remotely and nondestructively excite central nervous system (CNS) neurons. While diverse applications for this effect are already emerging, the biophysical transduction mechanism underlying this excitation remains unclear. Recently, we suggested that ultrasound-induced intramembrane cavitation within the bilayer membrane could underlie the biomechanics of a ra...

5D orbifold has two attractive features: quasi-localized matter fields can naturally reproduce hierarchical Yukawa coupling, while supersymmetry breaking is inherently built in by the Scherk-Schwarz mechanism. We examine the consequence of this quasi-localization and the Scherk-Schwarz supersymmetry breaking in low energy flavor violating processes, under the assumption that physics below the c...
متن کاملExploring potential mechanisms responsible for observed changes of ultrasonic backscattered energy with temperature variations.
PURPOSE Previous studies have provided the observation that the ultrasonic backscattered energy from a tissue region will change due to a change of temperature. The mechanism responsible for the changes in backscattered energy (CBE) with temperature has been hypothesized to be from the changes in scattering properties of local aqueous and lipid scatterers. An alternative mechanism is hypothesiz...
